This one-night-only, gender-bending presentation of Waiting for Godot was a partner piece to artist Kobe Mathys’ “Agency Assembly” installation in the REDCAT Gallery, which raised questions about intellectual property and copyright boundaries. By actively challenging the Beckett estate’s wishes and casting females in the lead roles, we pressed conversation about acting, intention, and story, investigating what is gained and lost when we explore classic texts through modern lenses.
